CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

The foundation stone of the church in Černová was blessed in Holy Week, on Maundy Thursday, 20 April 1906.The consecration of the newly built church was set to take place on 27 October 1907, but there was a tragic event in which 15 parishioners were killed and dozens more were injured. The church was not consecrated and remained closed for a long time. The church consecration did not take place until 29 June 1910, at the feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Finally, the church was consecrated by Andrej Hlinka, a native of Černová and vicar of Ružomberok, who contributed to its building to the greatest extent. In 1911 the church organ made by the company Bratři Paštikové from Prague was installed. In 1941 the original organ was rebuilt by the Rieger company. In 1912 the church altars made by the Austrian company Ferdinand Stuflesser were installed. In 1913 the church was painted by the academic painter Jozef Hanula. On 6 January 1925, on the feast of the Epiphany, Andrej Hlinka blessed two new bells that are located in the tower together with the original bell from 1911. In 1929 the church became a parish church and Černová became an independent parish. In 1948, on the initiative of Ladislav Hatala, new stations of the Way of the Cross were made for the church. In 1957, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Černová tragedy, an electric clock made by the company from Vyškov u Brna was fitted into the tower.
