Culture Centrum of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí

The Frýdlant nad Ostravicí Cultural Centre is a contributory organization of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí with own legal subjectivity. It was established to organize cultural and social events
in and around the city. The events are organized in the Cultural Centre which offers to those interested a large social hall with a capacity of 500 seats, a cinema and a conference centre, common rooms intended for the use of local associations, courses and clubs, Gallery of artistic enamel and cast iron, Ferdiš Duša Gallery, a municipal library and a terminal of the Beskydy Information Centre. On the ground floor of the Cultural Centre there is a permanent exhibition of cast iron which includes the period from the first third of 19th century until the Secession. It shows copies of art pieces of the Renaissance, Baroque, Armor samples, individual art designs and stylish cast iron stoves. Gallery of artistic enamel shows the use of old technologies for modern artistic creation. Since 1999, there have been more than twenty artists from all over Europe participating in international symposium “Frýdlant’s art enamel”. It is a unique European collection of enamel of its kind. Ferdiš Duša’s Gallery is dedicated to Frýdlant’s native painter and graphic artist Ferdiš Duša (1888 – 1958). Collection in attractive design offers not only paintings but also things less well known such as ceramics. A part of the Cultural Centre complex is also the city library with approximately 38,000 library units. The library naturally completes the Cultural Centre as it annually organizes many educational and entertaining events for children and the general public.
