The church of the Virgin Mary of Fatima

In july 2000, the new parish of Kona removed from the Turzovka parish. To the new parish were affiliated also Zivcakova and Turkov. The first priest of this parish was Ivan Mahrik. Thanks to him a church in Turkov has been built. Initiator of the building was Veronika Kristakova who donated field for the building. The construction of the new church had begun in November 2000. The construction works were done by the believers from Turkov, Podvysoka, Korna and Turzovka and in two years the works had finished. Gala consecration of the church was done by Bishop Jan Chryzostom Korec. Turzovka provided for the church a bell created by Compan Tkadlec form Halenkov. Interesting is that sculpt of the Virgin Mary of Fatima come from pilgrimage site in Portugal. From June 28th 2002 Turkov became a subsidiary of the Turzovka parish.
