LUTHERAN CHURCH

A dominant architectural feature of the town; this church was built in the years 1925 to 1926, in a modern spirit with elements of Rondocubism. It was designed by architect Ján Burjan, a native of Ružomberok, who used the original concept of architect Dušan Jurkovič from 1914. The building has a rectangular layout with a pseudo basilica between two transepts with central square tower. A renovation of the exterior took place between 1997 and 1998, and the interior was refurbished in 2004. The building of the Lutheran Presbytery and elementary school from 1923 – 1924 was built according to the design of Dušan Jurkovič. It also belongs to the sacral construction and together with the church they form one connected area.
