Elementary School Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, Námestie T.G. Masaryka 1260, Contributing organization

The 70’s of the 20th century brought the idea of building a new educational complex and so the construction of a new campus on Janáček Street began. It lasted for almost 10 years and cost 46 million CSK of the municipality budget. A elementary school located originally on the Fallen Heroes Street and a Grammar School were established in the new building.
A small square created before the new urban unit was named after Gustav Kliment. On the solemn opening, which took place on 1 September 1983, many local and regional parties and city officials were present. After November 1989 and after the first free elections in 1990, the sculpture of T.G.Masaryk was revealed in front of the school and it gave the elementary school the basis for a new, more dignified name which it carries until today.

More than 600 pupils attend this elementary school and it also provides children with school club and dining services. The founder of the school is the town of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. The whole complex is complemented by the building of the grammar school that is connected with the building of the elementary school. More than 300 students attend the grammar school six-year programme. The founder of the Frýdlant gymnasium is the Moravian-Silesian Region. An integral part of the complex is also a newly refurbished multipurpose sport field which serves not only pupils and students but in the afternoon also the general public.
