PlARlST GRAMMAR SCHOOL

This solitary building from the years 1888 to 1889 is a part of the Piarist College complex. The new building of the eight-year grammar school in the classical architectural style was built with town funds and replaced the older Piarist School building from 1790. lt is a two- storey building with a three-wing layout, central hall, and a central newel staircase. At the time of its establishment (1729) the Lower Piarist Grammar School in Ružomberok was the only one of its type for Liptov, Orava, Turiec and the upper part of Trenčín shire. During its existence many significant national Slovak figures attended the school. A complete renovation took place between 1984 and 1985, and the facade and interior were renovated in 2004. Since the year 2005, the building has been the seat of the vice-chancellor of the Catholic University in Ružomberok.
